“Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” (Revelation 4:8)

From the throne of God come “flashes of lightning, and rumblings and peals of thunder” (Revelation 4:5). Around it, the living creatures sing this day and night, and they never stop. Three times, because once isn’t enough. Wear the words they sing, and when someone asks what it means, tell them who it’s about.

The Meaning

Isaiah saw the Lord on His throne, and the seraphim called out, “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” (Isaiah 6:3). Centuries later, John saw the same throne and heard the same song (Revelation 4:8). Holy means set apart, unlike anything else. He was, He is, and He is to come.
